Africa Population Pyramid 1982
Africa in 1982
The population of Africa in 1982 was 512,958,549. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 33.1%, up from 385,311,882 in 1972.
The median age was 17.4 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 86.9 children under 15 and 6.1 people aged 65 or over. This is an expansive pyramid — each cohort of children is larger than the one above it, the signature of high birth rates and rapid growth.
