Africa Population Pyramid 1990
Africa in 1990
As of 1990, Africa counted 643,775,030 inhabitants. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 33.3%, up from 483,051,384 in 1980.
Half of the population was younger than 17.6 years; 44.5% were children under 15 and 3.2% were 65 or older. This is an expansive pyramid — each cohort of children is larger than the one above it, the signature of high birth rates and rapid growth.
