Africa Population Pyramid 2004
Africa in 2004
In 2004, Africa had a total population of 918,778,219 people. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 28.6%, up from 714,502,388 in 1994.
The median age was 18.5 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 77.6 children under 15 and 5.9 people aged 65 or over. The pyramid is expansive: its wide base of young cohorts reflects high fertility and a rapidly growing population.
