Africa Population Pyramid 2011
Africa in 2011
In 2011, Africa had a total population of 1,100,148,601 people. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 29.2%, up from 851,690,088 in 2001.
Half of the population was younger than 19.0 years; 41.7% were children under 15 and 3.2% were 65 or older. This is an expansive pyramid — each cohort of children is larger than the one above it, the signature of high birth rates and rapid growth.
