Africa Population Pyramid 2020
Africa in 2020
As of 2020, Africa counted 1,380,821,170 inhabitants. A decade earlier, in 2010, the population was 1,072,216,496; it has grown by 28.8% since.
With a median age of 19.7 years, Africa had a youth dependency ratio of 71.7 and an old-age dependency ratio of 6.2 per 100 people of working age. The pyramid is expansive: its wide base of young cohorts reflects high fertility and a rapidly growing population.
