As of 2010, Armenia counted 2,931,078 inhabitants. That is 6.2% less than in 2000, when the population stood at 3,125,628.
The median age was 32.4 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 27.6 children under 15 and 15.3 people aged 65 or over. The pyramid is constrictive: cohorts of children are smaller than those of their parents, reflecting low fertility and an ageing population.
