The population of Armenia in 2012 was 2,922,527. A decade earlier, in 2002, the population was still 3,055,630; it has declined by 4.4% since.
Half of the population was younger than 33.0 years; 19.5% were children under 15 and 10.7% were 65 or older. The narrow base of the pyramid marks a constrictive age structure: fertility below replacement level and a rising share of older people.
