In 2016, Asia had a total population of 4,528,415,183 people. That is 12.0% more than in 2006, when the population stood at 4,042,825,701. The median age was 30.2 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 37.1 children under 15 and 11.7 people aged 65 or over. The pyramid is stationary: cohort sizes are roughly even through the younger ages, reflecting fertility close to replacement level and slow population change.
