The population of Australia in 2010 was 22,141,581. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 15.7%, up from 19,132,471 in 2000. The median age was 37.0 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 28.3 children under 15 and 20.1 people aged 65 or over.
