Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2000

As of 2000, Bosnia and Herzegovina counted 4,159,772 inhabitants. A decade earlier, in 1990, the population was still 4,448,652; it has declined by 6.5% since. The median age was 33.6 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 28.7 children under 15 and 15.9 people aged 65 or over. The pyramid is constrictive: cohorts of children are smaller than those of their parents, reflecting low fertility and an ageing population.
