Canada in 2000

As of 2000, Canada counted 30,891,803 inhabitants. That is 11.2% more than in 1990, when the population stood at 27,789,443. The median age was 36.7 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 28.1 children under 15 and 18.4 people aged 65 or over. The pyramid is stationary: cohort sizes are roughly even through the younger ages, reflecting fertility close to replacement level and slow population change.
