Caribbean Population Pyramid 1969
Year
1969Caribbean in 1969
As of 1969, the Caribbean counted 24,904,665 inhabitants. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 21.8%, up from 20,443,441 in 1959.
The median age was 19.4 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 76.2 children under 15 and 8.5 people aged 65 or over. This is an expansive pyramid — each cohort of children is larger than the one above it, the signature of high birth rates and rapid growth.
