Year
1973Central Asia in 1973
As of 1973, Central Asia counted 34,877,248 inhabitants. That is 33.3% more than in 1963, when the population stood at 26,164,963.
The median age was 19.8 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 73.1 children under 15 and 8.9 people aged 65 or over. This is an expansive pyramid — each cohort of children is larger than the one above it, the signature of high birth rates and rapid growth.
