Czech Republic in 2005

In 2005, the Czech Republic had a total population of 10,280,152 people. Ten years earlier, in 1995, the population was nearly the same: 10,312,042. The median age was 38.7 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 20.6 children under 15 and 19.7 people aged 65 or over. This is a constrictive pyramid — its base is narrower than its middle, the signature of sustained low birth rates and population ageing.
