Eastern Africa Population Pyramid 2013
Eastern Africa in 2013
In 2013, Eastern Africa had a total population of 375,113,457 people. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 32.8%, up from 282,399,300 in 2003.
Half of the population was younger than 17.5 years; 44.5% were children under 15 and 2.7% were 65 or older. This is an expansive pyramid — each cohort of children is larger than the one above it, the signature of high birth rates and rapid growth.
