Eastern Asia Population Pyramid 2007
Eastern Asia in 2007
As of 2007, Eastern Asia counted 1,559,834,275 inhabitants. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 6.3%, up from 1,467,564,117 in 1997.
The median age was 34.5 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 26.0 children under 15 and 13.1 people aged 65 or over. The narrow base of the pyramid marks a constrictive age structure: fertility below replacement level and a rising share of older people.
