Eastern Asia Population Pyramid 2012
Eastern Asia in 2012
In 2012, Eastern Asia had a total population of 1,606,190,383 people. A decade earlier, in 2002, the population was 1,517,938,929; it has grown by 5.8% since.
Half of the population was younger than 36.6 years; 17.8% were children under 15 and 10.5% were 65 or older. The pyramid is constrictive: cohorts of children are smaller than those of their parents, reflecting low fertility and an ageing population.
