Germany in 1990

As of 1990, Germany counted 79,707,959 inhabitants. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 1.8%, up from 78,315,375 in 1980. The median age was 37.6 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 23.3 children under 15 and 21.5 people aged 65 or over. The narrow base of the pyramid marks a constrictive age structure: fertility below replacement level and a rising share of older people.
