Italy in 1960

In 1960, Italy had a total population of 49,514,555 people. That is 6.7% more than in 1950, when the population stood at 46,391,673. The median age was 31.6 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 38.2 children under 15 and 14.5 people aged 65 or over. This is a stationary pyramid — similar numbers in each age group up to the older cohorts, the signature of near-replacement fertility.
