Japan in 2013

In 2013, Japan had a total population of 127,723,646 people. The population was almost unchanged from 2003, when it stood at 127,671,252. The median age was 46.2 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 21.3 children under 15 and 41.3 people aged 65 or over. The narrow base of the pyramid marks a constrictive age structure: fertility below replacement level and a rising share of older people.
