As of 2025, Least developed countries counted 1,215,537,741 inhabitants. That is 26.3% more than in 2015, when the population stood at 962,708,547. The median age was 20.6 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 66.5 children under 15 and 6.7 people aged 65 or over. The pyramid is expansive: its wide base of young cohorts reflects high fertility and a rapidly growing population.
