Middle Africa Population Pyramid 1989
Middle Africa in 1989
As of 1989, Middle Africa counted 70,179,213 inhabitants. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 35.5%, up from 51,796,807 in 1979.
The median age was 17.5 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 86.1 children under 15 and 5.8 people aged 65 or over. This is an expansive pyramid — each cohort of children is larger than the one above it, the signature of high birth rates and rapid growth.
