Northern Europe Population Pyramid 1978
Northern Europe in 1978
As of 1978, Northern Europe counted 89,489,370 inhabitants. That is 3.4% more than in 1968, when the population stood at 86,518,393.
Half of the population was younger than 33.8 years; 22.1% were children under 15 and 14.2% were 65 or older. The pyramid is stationary: cohort sizes are roughly even through the younger ages, reflecting fertility close to replacement level and slow population change.
