Northern Europe in 2016

In 2016, Northern Europe had a total population of 103,807,060 people. That is 6.8% more than in 2006, when the population stood at 97,187,186. The median age was 40.1 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 27.7 children under 15 and 28.2 people aged 65 or over. This is a constrictive pyramid — its base is narrower than its middle, the signature of sustained low birth rates and population ageing.
