Singapore in 2000

The population of Singapore in 2000 was 4,035,245. That is 32.8% more than in 1990, when the population stood at 3,039,591. Half of the population was younger than 32.2 years; 18.8% were children under 15 and 6.2% were 65 or older. The narrow base of the pyramid marks a constrictive age structure: fertility below replacement level and a rising share of older people.
