Southern Europe Population Pyramid 2008
Year
2008Southern Europe in 2008
As of 2008, Southern Europe counted 153,239,912 inhabitants. That is 5.4% more than in 1998, when the population stood at 145,422,963.
Half of the population was younger than 40.7 years; 15.0% were children under 15 and 17.9% were 65 or older. The narrow base of the pyramid marks a constrictive age structure: fertility below replacement level and a rising share of older people.
