Southern Europe in 2020

In 2020, Southern Europe had a total population of 152,696,062 people. Over the previous ten years the population declined by 1.0%, down from 154,228,014 in 2010. Half of the population was younger than 45.5 years; 13.8% were children under 15 and 21.4% were 65 or older. The pyramid is constrictive: cohorts of children are smaller than those of their parents, reflecting low fertility and an ageing population.
