Southern Europe in 2021

As of 2021, Southern Europe counted 152,274,700 inhabitants. That is 1.4% less than in 2011, when the population stood at 154,411,542. The median age was 45.8 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 21.0 children under 15 and 33.5 people aged 65 or over. The pyramid is constrictive: cohorts of children are smaller than those of their parents, reflecting low fertility and an ageing population.
