Spain in 2010

As of 2010, Spain counted 46,840,471 inhabitants. That is 14.2% more than in 2000, when the population stood at 41,019,774. The median age was 40.2 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 21.9 children under 15 and 24.8 people aged 65 or over. This is a constrictive pyramid — its base is narrower than its middle, the signature of sustained low birth rates and population ageing.
