Western Europe Population Pyramid 1978
Western Europe in 1978
In 1978, Western Europe had a total population of 169,546,008 people. That is 3.7% more than in 1968, when the population stood at 163,421,880.
Half of the population was younger than 34.2 years; 21.3% were children under 15 and 14.5% were 65 or older. The pyramid is stationary: cohort sizes are roughly even through the younger ages, reflecting fertility close to replacement level and slow population change.
