Western Europe in 2010

As of 2010, Western Europe counted 188,723,564 inhabitants. A decade earlier, in 2000, the population was 183,290,086; it has grown by 3.0% since. Half of the population was younger than 42.2 years; 16.0% were children under 15 and 18.3% were 65 or older. The pyramid is constrictive: cohorts of children are smaller than those of their parents, reflecting low fertility and an ageing population.
