Western Europe in 2017

In 2017, Western Europe had a total population of 195,005,163 people. Over the previous ten years the population grew by 4.1%, up from 187,277,497 in 2007. Half of the population was younger than 43.5 years; 15.5% were children under 15 and 20.1% were 65 or older. The pyramid is constrictive: cohorts of children are smaller than those of their parents, reflecting low fertility and an ageing population.

Share of the population by age group, 1950–2100
