As of 2019, Western Sahara counted 538,440 inhabitants. That is 36.3% more than in 2009, when the population stood at 394,957. With a median age of 31.5 years, Western Sahara had a youth dependency ratio of 34.3 and an old-age dependency ratio of 7.7 per 100 people of working age.
