Central Asia in 2010

As of 2010, Central Asia counted 63,930,574 inhabitants. That is 13.8% more than in 2000, when the population stood at 56,180,715. The median age was 24.9 years, and for every 100 people of working age (15–64) there were 44.3 children under 15 and 7.5 people aged 65 or over. This is a stationary pyramid — similar numbers in each age group up to the older cohorts, the signature of near-replacement fertility.
